Procedure

  • M.Sc. degree or its equivalent in any field of Biological Sciences OR Computer Science/ Information Technology. BS (Hons) 4 years degree holders in Bioinformatics are also eligible.
  • Each candidate shall make an application for admission in response to an advertisement by the University on a prescribed form along with documents specified.
  • The admission to M.Phil programmers are made on the basis of cumulative merit to be determined from previous academic record and written as well oral test (taken together) following the scheme given under (to be approved by the Academic Council from time to time)

    The allocation of marks for determining merit is as follows

    Academic Record 50 marks
    Admission Test 40 marks
    Interview 10 marks

  • Written tests will be held in the respective Department/Institute/Centre according to the schedule announced.
  • The admission to M.Phil is approved by the Advanced Studies and Research Board after a candidate has qualified in a written test and interview and recommended by the Selection Committee of the department/institute/centre concerned.

  • The Selection Committee for each department/institute/Centre shall be constituted by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the chairman/ director of the department, institute/center concerned.
  • A student may convert Ph.D. candidature to M.Phil. subject to the following conditions.
    • That the student requesting for conversion does not possess an M.Phil. degree.
    • That the student has satisfactory performance in the Ph.D. course work.
    • That the conversion is recommended by the Departmental Admission Committee and is routed through the Dean.
