M.Phil Admission
Applications are invited from candidates seeking admission to M.Phil in Bioinformatics on regular basis. Admission forms along with relevant documents must reach on or before

The University is only accepting online applications through this website, therefore during the application process; you must upload the electronic copies of your documents. There is no requirement to send hard copies of the documents/receipts. Extra fee (Rs. 1000/-) will be charged in case of you are unable to upload the documents by the application deadline. Once you enter all your information and upload the required documents, you can print Application Processing Fee challan form for payment. Please deposit the application fee via the challan form in the bank (Askari/HBL) and upload the paid copy of the receipt.
The admission section will verify your application/payment/documents and inform you if the application is submitted completely. You will receive confirmation of application acceptance or will be provided with the details in case of rejection/incomplete application.

Admission Requirements:
- The applicants must have to their credit:
- First Division in MA/MSc or in BA/BSc/BS or at least 60% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4-5 years Degrees;
- Shall not have obtained third division in BA/BSc or MA or MSc;
- In case of 3rd division in FA/FSc the candidate should have obtained 1st division in both BA/BSc and MA/MSc; or at least 60% marks in BS (Hons) and all other 4-5 years Degrees
- No Objection Certificate from the employer is required to be attached with Online Application and routed through Proper Channel in case of in-service applicants;
- The following are not eligible for admission to MPhil/MS programme:
- Those who have been rusticated or expelled from any university or College for misconduct or use of unfair means in the examinations or any offence involving moral turpitude;
- Those who were admitted earlier to MPhil/MS programme but later were declared to have been ceased to be students of the university;
- The applicants must provide official certificate showing percentage of marks obtained in MSc/BS Hons/4-5 years programme.
How to Apply:
-
- The applicants can apply through Online Application System from the QAU website , along with a Challan of the Habib Bank Ltd. OR Askari Bank Ltd.
- The applicants are advised to deposit Rs.2115/- in any branch of Habib Bank Ltd. OR Rs.2100/- in any branch of Askari Bank Ltd. In favour of the Treasurer, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
- The Bank Challan should be attached with the online Admission Data Summary Sheet along with other scanned requisite documents, otherwise the application will not be entertained.
The applicants are required to scan & attached the requisite/required documents with Online Application for verification of data and determination of merit:
Subject Test/Interview:
- The admission to MPhil/MS programme shall be made on the basis of cumulative merit to be determined from previous academic record, University written subject test and interview.
- No separate call letters for test/interview will be issued.
- Only the test pass applicants will appear before the interview as per schedule of the Department/ Institute/ School/ Centre (DISC) concerned.
- The lists of the pass applicants shall be displayed on the notice boards of the relevant Department/ Institute/ School/ Centre (DISC).
- Test sample papers are available on the QAU website.
- Applicants appearing in the Entry Test must bring original CNIC for identification.
- If a test date is declared as holiday or for any reason, the test will be conducted on the next working day.
- Applicants seeking admission in the following subjects are required to appear in the Entry Test on the date, time and venue mentioned below :-
Bank Challan should be attached with the downloaded Admission forms , Three copies of application on prescribed forms duly supported by the attested Photostat copies of the certificates of academic qualifications, domicile, character, detailed marks, migration (in original) along with 5 (five) passport size photographs and No Objection Certificate from the employer, in case of in-service candidates, should reach the Director of NCB by due date during office hours.

Selection Procedure:-
- M.Sc. degree or its equivalent in any field of Biological Sciences OR Computer Science/ Information Technology. BS (Hons) 4 years degree holders in Bioinformatics are also eligible.
- Each candidate shall make an application for admission in response to an advertisement by the University on a prescribed form along with documents specified.
- The admission to M.Phil programmers are made on the basis of cumulative merit to be determined from previous academic record and written as well oral test (taken together) following the scheme given under (to be approved by the Academic Council from time to time)

- Written tests will be held in the respective Department/Institute/Centre according to the schedule announced.
- The admission to M.Phil is approved by the Advanced Studies and Research Board after a candidate has qualified in a written test and interview and recommended by the Selection Committee of the department/institute/centre concerned.

- The Selection Committee for each department/institute/Centre shall be constituted by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the chairman/ director of the department, institute/center concerned.
- A student may convert Ph.D. candidature to M.Phil. subject to the following conditions.
- That the student requesting for conversion does not possess an M.Phil. degree.
- That the student has satisfactory performance in the Ph.D. course work.
- That the conversion is recommended by the Departmental Admission Committee and is routed through the Dean.
Important Instructions:-
- No separate letter of selection will be issued. The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the notice boards of the respective departments according to the announced schedule. The lists will also be available on the NCB website and official Facebook page.
- Hostel Accommodation: A limited number of seats are available in the University hostels. Hostel accommodation will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Accommodation for female students will only be provided if seats are available.
- Incorrect Information: If any information provided by the applicant is found incorrect, misleading, or if any facts are concealed, the University reserves the right to refuse or cancel the admission and expel the student from the University.
- Fee Submission: Students must deposit the required fees within the schedule announced by the University. Failure to deposit the fees within the given time will result in cancellation of candidature.
