One-Day Workshop on “Advances in Bioinformatics in the Post Genomic Era” organized by National center for Bioinformatics (NCB) Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad started on 6th November 2014.
The basic idea of the workshop was aimed to provide a forum for presenting new strategies nad technology of Bioinformatics in Post Genomic era and to train young scientist for research and developing their scientific and technical talents
Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Asghari Bano inaugurated the first conference arranged by National Center for Bioinformatics. Workshop comprised of 5 Lectures given by honorable resource person .
First lecture was given by Dr. Muhammad Saeed (Ph.D Austria) from COMSATS, Islamabad on “Human Epigenome Project: An emerging front in bioinformatics”.
Second was presented by Dr. Muhammad Ramazan Khan (Ph.D Germany) from NIGAB/NARC, Islamabad on the topic “Genome duplication: the underlying theme of floral novelties in plants”.
Third was on the title of “Recent Development in Bioinformatics” by Prof. Dr. Hamid Rashid (Ph.D Touoko University Japan) from Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Islamabad.
Fourth presentation was given by Dr. Muhammad Faisal from NCB on the title “Statistical challenges in Bioinformatics”.
Fifth was given by Dr Jamil Ahmed (Ph.D France) from RCMS, NUST Islamabad on “Formal Methods in System Biology”.
After the lecture there was poster competition in which student and young researcher from different universities and institutes precipitated. The closing ceremony was sessioned by the Honorable Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmed and Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Asghari Bano After the closing remarks, shield and certificate were distributed to honorable resource persons.
