National Center for Bioinformatics, Quaid-I-Azam University, has participated in one day symposium with the title “National Symposium on Computational Biology in Pakistan Current Status and Future Challenges” organized by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad on November 8, 2012. This program was Sponsored by British Council under the INSPIRE Program and arranged by CIIT, Islamabad. Many renowned scholars from different prestigious scientific and research institutes have shared their views. Assistant Prof. Dr.Sajid Rashid (Incharge of NCB) and Assistant Prof Dr. Syed S. Azam on behalf of NCB presented the vision of NCB at this symposium. The presentations of both scientists elaborated contribution of NCB in development of bioinformatics.
In this seminar a poster competition was also organized. Different Ph.D, M.phil and M.S scholars from distinguished research institutes presented their research work in this contest. Scholars from NCB also participated and have won all three places in this competition. 1st position is won by Zahida Parveen, Ph.D (Bioinformatics) Scholar, 2nd by Asma Abro Ph.D (Bioinformatics) Scholar, and 3rd by Ayman Sarosh M.phil (Bioinformatics) Scholar.
