Five PhD students of NCB have joined Beijing Institute of Genomics, BIG data Center for three months training

Five Ph.D. students of comparative genomics lab (Dr. Amir Ali Abbasi) NCB, has joined the Beijing Institute of Genomics, BIG data center for the period of three months (from Oct 2018-Dec 2018). These students will learn modern techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing Technology, Health Big data management, programming skills related to big DNA sequence data analysis.

This training program is fully sponsored by the Beijing Institute of Genomics, BIG data center under the Project Title: Global omics data sharing initiative: PI: Prof. Yiming Bao, Co-PI: Prof. Amir Ali Abbasi

Dr. Amir Ali Abbasi from Department of Bioinformatics will represent Pakistan and Quaid-i-Azam University in the Global Platform of Big Data in Life sciences that will be held in Beijing from Oct 11 to Oct 14th. This international forum is organized by BIG data center, Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. World-renowned scientists from prestigious international institutes will deliver seminars to highlight Next Generation DNA Sequencing Technologies and their role in accelerating biological and biomedical research through the wide applications on pharmaceutical sciences, precision medicine, forensic investigations, targeted DNA sequencing and gene expression profiling of cancer patients, and small RNA sequencing of infectious diseases like hepatitis and AIDS. Global Platform of Big Data in Life sciences also aims to highlight the application of genomic analysis to the preservation of the viability of populations and the biodiversity of living organisms.

Ph.D students Afifa Navid and Rabia Farid from Computational Biology Lab has been nominated

Ph.D students Afifa Navid and Rabia Farid from Computational Biology Lab has been nominated by Dr. Syed Sikander Azam and are selected for Pakistan-U.S. Science & Technology Start-Up and Ideation Training Program organized in Dubai, U.A.E,  28th to 30th August, 2018.  Both students will represent Quaid-i-Azam University in the event.

Dr. Sajid Rashid delivered a keynote address in 2nd National Conference on Emerging Trends in Bioinformatics and Biosciences at Hazara University Mansehra.

Dr. Sajid Rashid, Chairman NCB, has delivered a keynote speech entitled “Role of E-3 Ligases in Cancer”. Apart from the topic Dr. Rashid also highlighted the potential areas and applications of Bioinformatics in modern scientific era. Three days’ Conference (9-11 August, 2018) was organized by department of Bioinformatics, Hazara University, Dhodial, Mansehra. Conference was attended by faculty members, researchers, and students across the Country.
